The Dell Precision 15-7540 Mobile Workstation Comes in 2 Different Drive Options Depending on the Battery Installed and Supports up to 3 Drives. (One 2.5" Solid State Drive or Hard Drive with the Smaller 4-cell 64Whr Battery Installed and/or Two M.2 NGFF (2280) Solid State Drives) or (Three M.2 NGFF (2280) Solid State Drives with the Larger 6-cell 97Whr Battery Installed) Note: Models that have the larger 6-cell 97Whr battery installed do not support 2.5" Drives due to the larger battery occupying the 2.5" Drive bay. Models that have the M.2 (2280) Drive Installed in slot 4 with the smaller 4-cell 46Whr battery installed do not support 2.5" Drives due to the M.2 Drive occupying the 2.5" Drive bay. If Installing a M.2 (2280) Drive in slot 3, 4 or 5, you will need the M.2 Drive thermal cooling plate p/n XRJ7R for installation. If Installing a 2.5" Drive in models with the smaller 4-cell 64Whr battery installed and M.2 slot 4 is empty, you will need the 2.5" Drive caddy p/n DH10G and interposer board p/n PRW9D for installation. (All 3 M.2 slots support Generation 4.0 x4 and 3.0 x4 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drives)
