The Dell XPS 8950 Supports a 4 Drive Configuration or a 6 Drive Configuration. This can be achieved by installing two 3.5" drives in the two primary 3.5" drive bays along with two M.2 solid-state drives (either 2280 or 2230 form factors), or by installing up to four 2.5" drives using two Dell GW1T5 dual drive trays, which are placed in the two 3.5" primary drive bays, in addition to the two M.2 drives. When installing 2.5" drives in the 3.5" drive bays, the Dell GW1T5 dual drive tray is required to mount them properly within the 3.5" bracket. Both M.2 slots are compatible with 2280 and 2230 form factors and can be adjusted by relocating the metal standoff screw mount to fit the specific size. Additionally, when adding extra 2.5" or 3.5" drives, each drive requires a SATA data cable (part number DS-DTSPCKIT) for installation.
