The Dell XPS 8960 Supports up to a 5 Drive Configuration. (Two 3.5" Drives Installed in the Primary Bays + Two M.2 (2280 or 2230) Solid State Drives) or (One 3.5" Drive Installed in One of the 3.5" Drive Bays + Two 2.5" Drives Installed in the Dell R494D Dual Drive Tray and installed in the Second 3.5" Drive Bay + Two M.2 (2280 or 2230) Solid State Drive) Note: If you are installing 2.5" drives in the 3.5" drive bays, the 2.5" drives require the Dell R494D dual drive tray for installation. If installing additional 3.5" or 2.5" drives, a sata data cable p/n DS-DTSPCKIT is required for each additional drive. The M.2 slot supports 2280 and 2230 drives by moving the metal standoff screw mount to accommodate the form factor.
